That ridiculous BBC Gender Pay Gap…

The governement forced the BBC to release the salaries for its highest paid entertainers and journalists to the British public this week. Many members of the British public had noticed that there was a dramatic gap between the pay between male and female workers.

The BBC is facing a huge backlash after the list exposed huge gender and minority inequality as woman are beginging to demand action to close the pay gap. It was revealed that the corporation’s highest-paid presenter is Chris Evans, earning at least £2.2 million.

Claudia Winkleman, the best-paid female star, took home at least £450,000, which is around a fifth of Evans’ pay. Then there is Emily Maitlis, who did not appear on the list, which only details staff earning more than £150,000. Her Newsnight co-star Evan Davis earns at least £250,000. Maitlis, who is currently not under contract, is reportedly considering her future at the BBC after the revelation.

Just 10 of the 96 names on the list are non-white, with sports presenter Jason Mohammad the highest-paid ethnic minority on at least £250,000 – a ninth of what Evans earned.

See it for yourself here.

Now, some of the BBC’s most high-profile female stars are demanding that the BBC act now to fix the gender pay gap. Presenters Clare Balding, Victoria Derbyshire and Emily Maitlis are among those who have signed an open letter to director general Tony Hall.

Education Secretary Justine Greening said the BBC’s gender pay gap was “hard to justify”, while Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn said discrepancies were “astronomical”.

Something needs to be done.

Why everyone should love the new Doctor…

For the last feels days the whole internet seems to have been going wild over the Doctor’s regeneration into a woman… simply because she’s a woman. Really?

To be honest, it got to Sunday and I was expecting everyone to be talking about the new season of Game Of Thrones but damn. I could not have been more wrong.

So, the casting directors of Doctor Who have cast Jodie Whittaker and I am one of what seems to be very few who are exceedingly excited by it. (Even of U.K. tabloids have published her nudes, she’s still amazing).

So here’s a few reasons why you should love the decision too:

She looks fantastic in the old Doctor’s outfits…

Colin Baker backs her… hitting back at sexist tweets.

We all know the stereotype of women apparently being unable to park a car decently… urm may I remind you that River Song parked the tardis better than the Doctor?

But what I loved most was Colin Baker’s response as he believes it is a result for a man with daughters.

He also tweeted this hilarious come back:

God, I love the old Doctors.

Speaking of River…

Alex Kingston offered her reaction to the announcement…

“I’m always the damn cradle snatcher but she’s a really great actress, she’s fantastic. Oh my God, that’s so exciting!” – Alex Kingston (1.14)

It has actually been said since the beginning that the Doctor can become a woman at any point – by the creators themselves.

This was highlighted in the BBC’s response to the backlash… as well as the fact that she’s an amazing actress!

But above all… she’s amazing all on her own.

Meet the Doctor

But there is one thing that we should be celebrating alongside the new Doctor…

The man who made many mistakes.

The man who was dragging the show through the mud.

MOFFAT HAS LEFT!!!!! #byefelicia

See all the mistakes he admitted here.

5 Ways I Relate To Harley Quinn

Harley Quinn aka. Doctor Harleen Quinnzel… Let’s be honest here she is the prettiest and most lovable female psychopath on screen, in animations and comics… but for some reason, I can relate to her character quite a lot.

5: She Knows She Annoys People

Harley is very self-aware of how annoying she can be and knows that it just might get her hurt or even killed. Let’s face it, in the real world, you are often told not to open your mouth to the wrong person because it will get you hurt and I am always self-conscious about annoying people. So much so, that I now warn people that I will annoy them eventually.

4: Her Cringe-Worthy Pick-Up Lines to Her Beloved Mr. J

We are all known for making cringy puns and pick up lines when all up in some boy or girls DMs, well Harley becomes queen of them all as she tries to bed her pudding in Batman: The Animated Series.

Let’s be honest, I can’t be the only one who relates to this way of flirting, right?

3: She Had High Aspirations In Life

Let’s not forget that before she became the infamous Harley Quinn she was Doctor Harleen Quinzel of Arkham Asylum in Gotham. Being a doctor takes a lot of hard work and dedication, especially to work in a psychiatric hospital filled with the world’s craziest criminals, am I right?

It is a shame that she gave it all up for Mr. J, but the wrong kind of relationship such as the domestic abuse she receives from her “pudding”  can ruin all aspects of your life.

2: She Wears A Smile For Her Man

In a violent relationship, you do anything to keep the abuser happy…

Her referral to him as her “boss” rather than her partner, shows her position in Mr. J’s life as not only does he think her inferior but she thinks that of herself too. She’ll do anything to keep him happy, which seems to include smiling on demand.

1: She is a Domestic Abuse Survivor

OHHHHH, here’s the part everyone who idolizes her  9because of Suicide Squad) forgets about…Harley and Joker aren’t “goals”.

She’s a victim, or more was, she seems to have become more of a survivor now.

Sure, she doesn’t handle it as well as real abuse victims would… becoming a serial killer and all that but she survives and she’s definitely a stronger woman from embracing the effects the abuse have had on her mind. She’s fierce!

SHOUT TO MY FELLOW NERDS – SAVE CARDIFF’S DOCTOR WHO EXPERIENCE

As if it wasn’t obvious… I’m a nerd and let me just tell you that Doctor Who has been a huge part of my life. I love it. Even when I was a kid, all I would look forward to is to sit with my Gran on a Saturday night and watch Doctor Who – and yes, sometimes when I was a tiny tot I did have nightmares from it but I’d cry and cry if my mother threatened to stop me from watching it.

I don’t know if many of you have been to a Doctor Who experience but I have and loved it but the one I went to closed shortly after. That’s why I’m shouting to my fellow Whovian community to save Cardiff’s Doctor Who experience.

“Ok, I admit: this sounds daft and there are many, many more important things out there we should be petitioning for or against. But not only is ‘Doctor Who’ a global institution, Cardiff’s ‘Doctor Who Experience’ brings much in the way of tourism to an otherwise socioeconomically deprived area, gives local people jobs, does much to improve the economy…and let’s face it: in these dark post-Brexit days, we all need some escapism.” – Bex Ferriday

Pokemon Go server crash

As I come from a generation where Pokemon has taken up hours of our lives from the Anime movies, TV series, trading cards and Nintendo DS games, I understandably jumped upon the band wagon of downloading the new Pokemon Go game.

The ability to go out and simulate capturing Pokemon in the real world was obviously intriguing to the public, whether you have been a huge Pokemon nerd for the majority of your life or not.
It was obvious that its vast popularity was going to cause problems as the game is considered to be so addictive that many media platforms have blamed it for car accidents and having an impact on mental health despite only being out for a week.
The impact of the game is obviously noticeable as it has been mentioned all over social media. The popularity of the game is said to be more than that of tinder and is soon to expect to overtake Twitter.

Over the past week since the game being released the servers have been glitchy. This is hardly a surprise during the high demand for trying to catch them all.

I hope they will be back up soon because ‘I want to be the very best, like no one ever was.’
